Testing cover crop species under three soil moisture conditions in a controlled greenhouse environment

چکیده
Extreme climatic events, such as drought and heavy rainfall, are increasing with climate change. These events can threaten agroecosystems, including vineyards. Cover crops often grown in vineyards for various reasons be an effective strategy change adaptation. Understanding which cover crop species establish well under extreme conditions is important. We conducted a greenhouse experiment to investigate the responses of nine overwatered water-deficit conditions. Treatments included (1) soil condition, watered at 100% field capacity daily, (2) control, 60%–70% every other day, (3) water deficit, 15%–20% weekly 53 growing days. Results indicated that total dry weight all decreased (most significantly) However, pubescent wheatgrass red fescue did not exhibit any stress symptoms. Apart from alfalfa, established despite slight yellowing foliage crimson clover hairy vetch. Pearl millet yellow sweet had best establishment regardless Our results provide important information on selection withstand variability thrive linked scenario Canada.

Adsorption of arsenic on soil under different soil moisture conditions
The adsorption study was conducted on three Japanese soils with different soil properties to characterize the adsorption pattern of Arsenic (As). Double tube method was used to find out the effect of soil moisture levels on As adsorption. For this study, besides double tube method, conventional batch method also was used. The As adsorption showed two phase kinetics. An initial and rapid adsorpt...

shortage of water in arid and semiarid regions of the world can reduce growth and production of medicinal and aromatic plants, especially mentha species. in order to evaluate response of mint species to water deficit stress, an experiment was carried out using a completely factorial-randomized design with five replications at college of agriculturae, ferdowsi university of mashhad, iran. the fa...
متن کاملSpectral Indices to Improve Crop Residue Cover Estimation under Varying Moisture Conditions
Crop residues on the soil surface protect the soil against erosion, increase water infiltration and reduce agrochemicals in runoff water. Crop residues and soils are spectrally different in the absorption features associated with cellulose and lignin. Our objectives were to: (1) assess the impact of water on the spectral indices for estimating crop residue cover (fR); (2) evaluate spectral wate...
